Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation forces. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Saudi Arabia’s condemnation and denunciation of the incident in the strongest terms. The burning of the hospital and the forced evacuation of patients and medical staff were described as a violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the most fundamental humanitarian and ethical norms. Israeli soldiers stormed and burned the hospital after ordering dozens of patients and hundreds of displaced people to evacuate the medical complex, which had been severely damaged in recent days.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that contact with staff inside Kamal Adwan Hospital had been lost. The hospital had been under heavy attack by Israeli forces for weeks, with approximately 50 people being killed, including five medical staff, in a series of Israeli air strikes targeting the vicinity of the hospital. Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of the hospital, stated that a building opposite the hospital was targeted by Israeli warplanes, leading to the death of a pediatrician and a lab technician, as well as their families. A third staff member who worked as a maintenance technician was also targeted and killed as he rushed to the scene of the first strike.

The hospital has been under a tightening Israeli blockade imposed on parts of northern Gaza since October, when the military launched an offensive to stop Hamas from regrouping in the area. The burning of the hospital and the targeting of medical staff are seen as further escalations of violence in the region, raising concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an immediate end to the violence and for the protection of medical facilities and personnel in the region.

The international community has also expressed concern over the situation in Gaza, with calls for an end to the violence and a return to negotiations for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital has highlighted the challenges faced by medical facilities and personnel in conflict zones, where they are often targeted and prevented from providing essential care to those in need. The protection of medical facilities and personnel is a key priority for humanitarian organizations working in conflict-affected areas, and violations of international law and humanitarian norms must be strongly condemned and addressed.

The targeting of hospitals and medical staff in conflict zones is a violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which protect medical personnel and facilities from attack. The burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital is a stark reminder of the challenges faced by medical professionals in conflict zones, where they risk their lives to provide care to those in need. The international community must take action to prevent further attacks on medical facilities and personnel and to ensure that civilians have access to the medical care they require.

In conclusion, the burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces is a violation of international law and ethical norms. The targeting of medical facilities and personnel in conflict zones must be condemned and addressed by the international community. The protection of medical facilities and personnel is essential for ensuring that civilians have access to the care they need during times of conflict. Saudi Arabia’s condemnation of the incident highlights the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Gaza and for the protection of human rights and humanitarian norms in the region.
