Saudi Arabia is committed to leading the transition towards green energy in the industrial sector as part of its goals outlined in Vision 2030. Eng. Khalil Ibrahim bin Salamah, Deputy Minister of Industry Affairs, emphasized this commitment during a dialogue session at the ACHEMA exhibition in Germany. He highlighted the Kingdom’s interest in renewable energy and green practices, noting that it supports economic diversification and job creation. Saudi Arabia aims to achieve zero neutrality and reach net carbon emissions by 2060 through initiatives like the Saudi Green Initiative, which includes planting 10 billion trees and increasing the contribution of renewable energy sources in the national energy mix to over 50% by 2030.

Bin Salamah also mentioned the impact of major projects like NEOM, focusing on renewable energy, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing techniques. These projects play a crucial role in enhancing economic diversification and sustainability. He emphasized the importance of developing the Saudi industrial sector in alignment with Vision 2030 goals and emphasized the localization of the sector and the development of flexible and innovative supply chains. The goal is to become global leaders in industrial innovation and sustainability, overcoming obstacles for investors and integrating the latest technologies and sustainable practices into the sector.

The ACHEMA 2024 exhibition, where these discussions took place, brings together over 3,200 industrial companies and 1,000 speakers, focusing on innovation and sustainability. The event covers a range of topics, including pharmaceuticals, hydrogen, green and digital innovation. Key issues addressed at the exhibition include sustainability, digital transformation, and the latest technological developments in the industrial sector. This platform provides an opportunity for industry experts and stakeholders to exchange knowledge, ideas, and best practices to drive the transition towards green energy and sustainability in the chemical industry.

In line with Saudi Arabia’s focus on green energy and sustainable practices, Eng. Khalil Ibrahim bin Salamah reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to leading the transition in the industrial sector. This commitment is in line with Vision 2030 goals, aiming to achieve economic diversification, create more job opportunities, and ultimately reach net carbon emissions by 2060. Initiatives like the Saudi Green Initiative, which includes planting 10 billion trees and increasing the use of renewable energy sources, play a vital role in moving towards a more sustainable future.

Bin Salamah also highlighted the significance of major projects like NEOM in enhancing economic diversification and sustainability through renewable energy, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing techniques. The focus on developing the Saudi industrial sector in alignment with Vision 2030 goals includes localization, flexible supply chains, and the integration of innovative technologies. The Kingdom aspires to become a global leader in industrial innovation and sustainability by overcoming obstacles for investors and providing incentives and facilities to support the National Strategy for Industry.

The ACHEMA 2024 exhibition provides a platform for industry experts and stakeholders to engage in discussions on innovation, sustainability, and the transition towards green energy in the chemical industry. With a diverse range of topics covered, including pharmaceuticals, hydrogen, green innovation, and digital transformation, the event serves as a hub for knowledge exchange and collaboration. As Saudi Arabia continues its efforts towards green energy and sustainability, platforms like ACHEMA play a crucial role in driving the industry forward and achieving the Kingdom’s vision for a more environmentally-friendly and sustainable industrial sector.
