The National Council for Occupational Safety and Health in Saudi Arabia has refuted claims of a rise in worker fatalities due to poor working conditions. The council stated that Saudi Arabia’s work-related fatality rate is among the lowest globally at 1.12 per 100,000 workers, according to the International Labour Organization. Reputable organizations like the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and the British Safety Council have also recognized the Kingdom’s advancements in occupational safety and health.

Worker safety and well-being are top priorities in Saudi regulations, with initiatives under the Saudi Vision 2030 framework, such as the National Strategic Program for Occupational Safety and Health, focusing on enhancing workplace safety standards. The program, launched in 2017, aims to improve safety protocols and legislation to ensure human welfare in development projects. Employers in Saudi Arabia are required by law to provide comprehensive health insurance that covers preventive, therapeutic, and healthcare services for their employees.

During peak summer hours, regulations in Saudi Arabia limit outdoor work to mitigate health risks and ensure that working hours comply with international standards and relevant ILO agreements. The council emphasized the importance of relying on verified sources for information and stressed the credibility of reporting. It urged media outlets and the public to be cautious about believing unverified claims about worker fatalities in the Kingdom.

The council’s statement comes in response to various media reports suggesting an increase in worker fatalities in Saudi Arabia due to poor working conditions. However, the council’s data shows that the Kingdom has made significant progress in reducing work-related deaths and ensuring occupational safety and health for workers. The International Labour Organization, as well as other reputable organizations, have commended Saudi Arabia for its advancements in this area.

Saudi Arabia’s commitment to improving workplace safety standards is evident through initiatives like the National Strategic Program for Occupational Safety and Health. The program aims to enhance safety protocols and legislation to prioritize human welfare in development projects. Employers are also required to comply with regulations that ensure the well-being of their employees, including providing comprehensive health insurance coverage.

Overall, the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health in Saudi Arabia has emphasized the importance of credibility in reporting and the need to rely on verified sources for information. The Kingdom’s efforts to prioritize worker safety and well-being through regulations, initiatives, and programs like the National Strategic Program for Occupational Safety and Health demonstrate its commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all workers in the country.
