Saudi Arabia announces plan for private sector to develop driving schools

The Saudi Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the National Center for Privatization, has introduced a new project aimed at monitoring driving schools in Saudi Arabia. This project, which will be implemented through a management and operation contract model for a period of 10 years, seeks to enhance the performance of driving schools in the kingdom and ensure their sustainability. The initiative will involve the management of driver testing in more than 69 schools across Saudi Arabia, with the goal of improving training and testing standards for individuals seeking to obtain a driver’s license.

In order to ensure the success of the project, the ministry will be partnering with the private sector to operate and manage the tests provided to both citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia. The project will also involve the monitoring of driving schools to ensure that they adhere to the necessary standards for performance measurement. Continuous work plans will be implemented to monitor the performance of these schools in accordance with the approved indicators by the General Traffic Department, under the Public Security sector.

Interested parties who wish to participate in the project are invited to review the Expression of Interest request document available on the National Center for Privatization website. The submission phase for expressing interest in the project will end on 25 August at 3 p.m., giving potential stakeholders an opportunity to get involved in this groundbreaking initiative to enhance the driving school system in Saudi Arabia. This project is expected to bring about positive changes in the training and testing standards for driving vehicles in the kingdom, ultimately contributing to safer roads and improved road safety for all.

The driving school monitoring project is part of the Saudi government’s efforts to enhance the quality of services provided to its citizens and residents, particularly in the field of transportation and road safety. By partnering with the private sector, the government aims to streamline the management and operations of driving schools in the kingdom, ensuring that they meet the necessary standards for performance and efficiency.
