Prince Faisal: Saudi Arabia to Improve Political and Economic Cooperation with Estonia

Saudi Arabia and Estonia have decided to further enhance cooperation in political, economic, and other vital sectors, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan. The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding political consultations between the two countries serves as a basis for coordination and cooperation. The two countries are working to develop cooperation in various fields, explore economic, cultural, and technical cooperation opportunities, and increase trade, investment, and promotion of innovation. The value of bilateral trade between Saudi Arabia and Estonia amounted to $72 million in 2023, with exports from the Kingdom totaling $21 million and imports from Estonia totaling $51 million. The ministers also discussed common challenges, the conflict in the Gaza Strip, and finding a peaceful solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs acknowledged Estonia’s support for the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution regarding granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations, emphasizing the importance of keeping hope alive for a two-state solution. In a joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna in Tallinn, Prince Faisal highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between the two friendly countries. The discussions between the two ministers focused on various means to enhance relations and intensify multilateral coordination on issues that serve the interests of both Saudi Arabia and Estonia. A memorandum of understanding regarding political consultations was signed to further boost relations between the two countries.

Prince Faisal expressed optimism about the potential for more economic growth between Saudi Arabia and Estonia, emphasizing the importance of exploring opportunities for cooperation in economic, cultural, and technical fields. The ministers discussed ways to increase trade and investment opportunities, as well as promote innovation between the two countries. The Non-resident Saudi Ambassador to Estonia and the Director General of the Foreign Minister’s Office also attended the meeting, highlighting the significance of the discussions and agreements reached during the visit.

The ministers also addressed common challenges and geopolitical issues, such as the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. They underscored the need to find sustainable and peaceful solutions to these conflicts, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving international disputes. The signing of the memorandum of understanding regarding political consultations reflects the commitment of Saudi Arabia and Estonia to further strengthen their relations and enhance cooperation in various fields.

Overall, the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan to Estonia signifies a commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Estonia.
