The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) will be hosting an international conference in November 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program. This event will bring together ministers, leaders, and experts in conjoined twin separations from around the world, coinciding with the International Conjoined Twins Day, a United Nations initiative championed by Saudi Arabia. The focus of the conference will be on the program’s success in performing 61 separation surgeries and evaluating 139 cases from 26 countries since its inception in 1990.
The conference will include ministerial sessions, specialized scientific sessions, humanitarian sessions, workshops, and exhibitions dedicated to children with special needs. Additionally, agreements will be signed with the UN and international organizations dedicated to children’s welfare, showcasing Saudi Arabia’s dedication to humanitarian efforts and the care of vulnerable children. The Kingdom’s extensive experience in conjoined twins separation, with the largest program of its kind globally, will be highlighted at the conference.
With the gathering of global experts and professionals in the medical and humanitarian sectors, the conference is expected to produce valuable recommendations that will serve as a reference for specialists and individuals interested in conjoined twin separation and humanitarian work. The event will provide a platform to showcase Saudi Arabia’s pioneering efforts in the field and share insights from the program’s success in performing separation surgeries and providing medical evaluations for cases from diverse countries.
The international conference will provide an opportunity for attendees to engage in discussions, workshops, and exhibitions focused on the humanitarian considerations of children with special needs. Through collaborative efforts with international organizations, the conference aims to further the Kingdom’s commitment to humanitarian work and the well-being of vulnerable children, establishing partnerships that will enhance support for those in need.
As the conference marks a significant milestone in the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, it will highlight the program’s achievements over the past 34 years and emphasize the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise in conjoined twin separations. By showcasing Saudi Arabia’s leadership in this area and fostering international cooperation, the conference will contribute to advancing medical and humanitarian efforts for conjoined twins and children with special needs globally.
