AlUla has recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first destination in the Middle East to receive accreditation from Destinations International, a US-based organization. This accreditation, part of the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP), recognizes AlUla for its quality and professionalism in destination marketing. Since opening to visitors four years ago, AlUla has established itself as a premier tourism site in Saudi Arabia, with a year-round events calendar and top-tier hospitality options. This accreditation highlights AlUla’s progress towards creating a sustainable economy that benefits the local community.

Philip Jones, Chief Tourism Officer at the Royal Commission for AlUla, expressed the significance of this achievement for AlUla. He emphasized their commitment to developing the tourism industry and ecosystem in AlUla to be best-in-class. By meeting over one hundred performance standards in governance, stakeholder engagement, financial management, and destination development, AlUla has demonstrated its dedication to maintaining the highest standards in the destination. This accreditation reinforces trust among visitors, stakeholders, and partners, while also showcasing AlUla as one of the world’s leading luxury destinations.

In addition to receiving accreditation from Destinations International, AlUla has been recognized with several prestigious awards, further solidifying its status as a leading luxury heritage destination. Recently, AlUla was named the leading cultural tourism project in the Middle East for the second consecutive year at the World Travel Awards Middle East. It also received accolades for being the leading festival and event destination in the region and the best pioneering cultural tourism project in the Kingdom. Furthermore, the Royal Commission for AlUla was honored with a 5-star rating for organizational excellence from the European Foundation for Quality Management and the Excellence Award from the Middle East Facility Management Association.

AlUla continues to attract visitors with its diverse offerings in arts, culture, nature, wellness, and adventure. The destination provides an exceptional and immersive experience for tourists looking to explore a rich heritage and enjoy luxury amenities. With its commitment to maintaining high standards and continually evolving best practices in the tourism sector, AlUla is poised to further enhance its reputation as a world-class destination. The accreditation from Destinations International is a testament to AlUla’s dedication to excellence and sets a benchmark for other destinations in the Middle East to aspire to.

By being part of Destinations International, AlUla aims to showcase its unique approach to destination marketing and highlight what makes it a leading luxury destination. The recognition from this global organization not only validates AlUla’s efforts in promoting tourism but also opens up opportunities to share its successful strategies with the world. With a focus on sustainability, community development, and preserving cultural heritage, AlUla is well-positioned to attract a discerning audience seeking a truly exceptional travel experience. As AlUla continues to grow and evolve, it remains committed to setting new standards in destination marketing and establishing itself as a model for sustainable tourism development in the Middle East and beyond.
