The Theater Affairs Center of the Ministry of Culture in Doha will be hosting a workshop on the art of acting starting on Thursday, August 15 and running until mid-September. The workshop will focus on both physical and psychological preparation of actors, as well as helping them understand the history of theater and different directorial styles. Ibrahim Al Baker, an artist and creative director, explained that the workshop will cover the secrets of the theater stage, actor preparation exercises based on Konstantin Stanislavski’s approach, and lectures on the history and evolution of global theater.
During the workshop, participants will study international theater texts such as Oedipus Rex and explore ways to strengthen their imagination. The play “The Elephant, O King of Time” by Syrian playwright Saadallah Wannous will be examined at the conclusion of the workshop. Renowned actors in Qatar, including Faleh Fayez and Saleh Almannai, will be participating in the workshop to provide expertise in improvisational theater, imagination, reincarnation, music, and disguises on stage.
