The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) recently kicked off its two-day orientation event, ‘Ahlan,’ aimed at helping new students transition smoothly into university life. The event provided essential guidance and support to over 1,500 new joiners for the fall semester, out of a total student body of 7,500, with over 20% being Qatari. The students engaged in interactive sessions to familiarize themselves with campus life, meet faculty members, and connect with Student Affairs divisions.
The UDST offers over 70 programs across its five colleges: Business, Computing and Information Technology, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences, and General Education. The College of Business and the College of Computing and Information Technology have garnered strong interest from Qatari students, particularly in Data and Cybersecurity and Human Resource Management. Additionally, the university has welcomed 70 new local and international faculty members to enhance the world-class education it offers.
UDST President, Dr. Salem Al Naemi, emphasized the importance of acquiring both knowledge and skills that will differentiate students in any setting. He highlighted the opportunities for hands-on experience, innovation in workshops, participation in training sessions, and engagement in extracurricular activities. The university has a strong focus on sports, with numerous medals to its credit, and encourages students to partake in various competitions to achieve greater success.
The university has introduced new programs this academic year to cater to market demand, and to contribute to economic and technological growth in Qatar and beyond. These include a Master of Science in Process Safety at the College of Engineering and Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with three tracks at the College of Health Sciences. The College of Computing and Information Technology is offering a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Cybersecurity, among other programs, while the College of Business has introduced a Bachelor of Business Administration in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
UDST continues to support Qatari students and the children of Qatari women by offering tuition fee exemptions for Bachelor’s degree and diploma programs. The university remains committed to providing applied Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, diplomas, and certificates designed to support human, social, and economic development on both national and international levels. Furthermore, the university is gearing up to host significant conferences and major events in the coming months, showcasing its dedication to creating a dynamic and vibrant campus culture.
