United Development Company (UDC) recently organized a successful seabed cleaning campaign at Porto Arabia marina on The Pearl Island in Doha, Qatar, coinciding with Earth Day 2024. The campaign built upon the success of the previous year’s initiative, drawing in professional divers, volunteers, and residents in a united effort to protect Qatar’s marine ecosystem. Collaborating with various private and public institutions, UDC orchestrated a comprehensive cleaning event involving 118 professional divers who removed over 2 tonnes of plastic and metal waste from 60% of the marina’s seabed.

This initiative aligns with UDC’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability across its developments. The company worked with partners such as Ronautica Middle East, Corinthia Yacht Club, Ministry of Social Development and Family, Qatar Civil Defense, and more to ensure a successful cleanup campaign. The collected waste materials underwent recycling and reuse processes, showcasing responsible waste management practices and reducing landfill deposition. Over 250 residents and visitors also actively participated in eco-friendly activities like planting, paper recycling, and energy conservation efforts, demonstrating the community’s dedication to sustainable practices.

UDC’s focus on environmental preservation extends beyond just the seabed cleanup campaign. By championing awareness and engagement in sustainable initiatives, UDC contributes to Qatar’s broader sustainability objectives and the preservation of marine and terrestrial ecosystems. The Seabed Cleanup initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water, highlighting the importance of conserving and sustainably utilizing oceans, seas, and marine resources. With their commitment to fostering environmental stewardship, UDC continues to play a vital role in preserving Qatar’s natural environment.

UDC’s seabed cleaning campaign not only benefits the marine ecosystem but also showcases the power of collective environmental stewardship. Through partnerships with various organizations and active participation from residents and visitors, the campaign succeeded in removing significant amounts of waste from Porto Arabia marina. The meticulous recycling and reuse processes implemented for the collected materials exemplify UDC’s dedication to responsible waste management practices. By engaging the community in eco-friendly activities and promoting sustainability, UDC is paving the way for a more environmentally conscious and sustainable future for Qatar.

The success of UDC’s seabed cleaning campaign underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving environmental preservation goals. With the participation of professional divers, volunteers, residents, and various institutions, the campaign showcased the collective commitment to protecting Qatar’s marine ecosystem. By uniting diverse stakeholders in environmental initiatives, UDC is driving positive change and promoting sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and the community. Through continued support for initiatives like the Seabed Cleanup, UDC reinforces its role as a leader in environmental conservation and sustainability in Qatar.
In conclusion, United Development Company’s seabed cleaning campaign at Porto Arabia marina exemplifies the power of collective action in preserving Qatar’s marine ecosystem. By engaging professional divers, volunteers, residents, and institutional partners, UDC successfully removed tons of waste from the seabed, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship. Through responsible waste management practices, community engagement, and support for sustainability objectives, UDC is making significant contributions to preserving marine and terrestrial ecosystems in Qatar. Their dedication to fostering environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices sets a positive example for future conservation efforts in the region.
