Transport Minister participates in quartet ministerial meeting for Development Road Project

Minister of Transport H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti recently attended the second quartet Ministerial Council meeting in Baghdad to discuss the Development Road project and Al Faw Port development. The meeting was also attended by other key figures in the transportation sector, including Iraqi Minister of Transport H E Razzaq Muhaibas Al Saadawi, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure H E Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, and Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister H E Abdulkadir Uraloglu. During the meeting, discussions centered around the progress of the strategic project, with a focus on railway and highway works.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the signing of a quartet ministerial communiqué. This communiqué included important initiatives such as endorsing a coordination structure for project work management and governance, encouraging States parties to exchange information and intensify efforts to achieve project goals, and exploring various options for railroad and land connections to enhance economic and trade exchange between countries and the rest of the world. The Development Road project aims to connect the Grand Al Faw Port with the borders of Turkey through a 1200km-long railway and highway network for the efficient transportation of goods and passengers.

The Development Road project is a significant infrastructure initiative that promises to enhance regional connectivity and boost economic development through improved transportation links.
