The Doha Debates Ambassador Program, offered by Qatar Foundation, is calling upon young leaders in Qatar and around the world to apply for the fifth cohort of the program. This 12-week virtual program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to engage in intercultural discussions, address global issues, and work towards creating a more equitable future. With a focus on majlis-style discussion, storytelling, consensus building, and systems thinking, ambassadors will have the opportunity to explore and debate important world issues from September 3 to November 27, 2024.
Facilitated by experts such as Dr. Brandon Ferderer and Jennifer Geist, along with international guest speakers, ambassadors will participate in weekly sessions to enhance their understanding of complex global problems. Through the lens of Doha Debates’ podcast “The Negotiators”, participants will learn to facilitate discussions and appreciate the diverse worldviews and personal stories of their peers. This approach to learning was valued by previous cohort members, who found that sharing their own stories helped them better understand themselves and their beliefs.
Program alumni remain engaged with Doha Debates by representing the organization at various events and projects. They have had the opportunity to participate in town hall events, ask questions to expert guests, and contribute to podcast discussions. Additionally, alumni from previous cohorts have served as mentors to current participants, offering guidance and support throughout the program. The goal of the Ambassador Program is to empower the next generation of leaders to cultivate community, seek truth, understand different perspectives, and tackle the world’s most pressing challenges.
Amjad Atallah, the Managing Director of Doha Debates, emphasized the importance of providing young leaders with a platform to engage in meaningful discussions and collaborate on solutions to global issues. The program partners with Shared Studios, a technology-driven startup focused on building connections and enabling collaboration worldwide. Fluent English speakers between the ages of 18 and 26 with access to an internet-enabled computer for video conferencing are encouraged to apply for the Ambassador Program. Interested candidates can join Doha Debates’ online community and complete a brief course before submitting their application by the deadline of July 25, 2024, at DohaDebates.com/Ambassador.
The Doha Debates Ambassador Program offers a unique and inspiring opportunity for youth to develop their leadership skills, expand their global perspective, and contribute to positive global change.
