Staycations have become a popular trend in Qatar, offering individuals a rejuvenating experience without the hassle of traveling. Many hotels in the city now offer staycation packages, some even at discounted prices during holidays such as Eid. In addition to traditional hotel stays, staycations are also available at camps and cabins, providing the comfort of a hotel in unique locations like the desert or beach.

For those seeking a serene escape or a family-friendly retreat, hotels and resorts in Qatar offer a perfect blend of comfort and luxury. Special Eid promotions, tailored packages, indulgent dining experiences, and relaxing spa treatments are often included in these staycation deals. Initially limited to holidays, staycations are now offered throughout the year to cater to the growing demand for short breaks away from the daily routine.

The Peninsula spoke to individuals who have enjoyed staycations to gather their experiences, as well as industry experts to understand the benefits of taking frequent breaks. Communication specialist Jameela Salah shared her family’s positive experience of opting for a staycation during the Eid holidays, highlighting the stress-free nature of staying close to home and the ability to unwind without the hassle of travel.

Industry sources have reported a noticeable surge in staycation bookings, especially during busy times like the Eid holidays. Families are increasingly choosing staycations as a way to relax and rejuvenate, with some opting for this experience every few months. Resort supervisors have noted that while weekend bookings are popular, there is still a demand for weekday staycations, with guests often choosing affordable offers available through various platforms.

Content creator Nazma Mazhar views staycations as a way to hit the “re-start button” and refresh the mind from the monotony of daily life. She believes that short breaks are less stressful and more relaxing than long holidays, leading to a better mental state. For expatriate Evangeline, staycations are a crucial way to relieve stress and take time for self-care amidst the busy schedule of managing a household and career.

Chair of Psychiatry at Sidra Medicine, Professor Muhammad Waqar Azeem, emphasizes the importance of uninterrupted, restful holidays in reducing stress, boosting creativity, and improving sleep quality. Taking time away from routine work and daily life can lead to better physical and emotional well-being, stronger relationships, and increased motivation. Professor Azeem also notes that these breaks are essential in preventing burnout and fatigue, ultimately enhancing work performance and productivity.
