The 16th edition of the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2025) has started and will run until February 1, 2025, at the Marmi area in Sealine. The event is held under the patronage of H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, supported by the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM), and organized by the Qatari Society of Algannas (AGQS). The festival kicked off with the Haddad Al-Tahaddi contest, with 23 groups competing. Despite intense competition, the Farkh Shaheen falcons emerged as the winners, with the second group contests scheduled for the following day.

Marmi Festival chairman, Miteb Mubarak Al Qahtani, highlighted the importance of continuing the falconry legacy to inspire future generations. He emphasized that the event aims to instill falconry in the hearts of children and young people, making them true guardians of this legacy. The record turnout of visitors reflects the community’s interest in this popular heritage, positioning the festival as a significant event on Qatar’s calendar. Al Qahtani also stressed the successes achieved year after year and the large participation from Qatari and Gulf communities.

Vice-chairman of the Marmi Festival, Abdulwaheb bin Omair Al Nuaimi, emphasized the festival’s role in maintaining the falconry legacy. The 16th edition aims to support falconers and traditional hunting enthusiasts, as evidenced by the record turnout of participants. Foreign tourists are also showing interest in learning about falconry legacy through the festival, along with citizens and residents seeking to enjoy the unique atmosphere at Marmi area in Sealine. The organizing committee ensures that visitors are provided with all necessary amenities.

Chairman of the Hadad Al Tahadi Committee, Shawi Al Kaabi, praised the efforts of falconers during the initial days of the event, noting the huge crowds of spectators drawn to the Hadad Al Tahadi competition. Several participating falconers expressed their gratitude to AGQS for supporting them and consistently organizing events that promote this unique heritage. The festival’s primary goal is to enhance falconry, a heritage recognized by UNESCO. Qatar has been at the forefront of efforts to preserve this global heritage, both domestically and internationally, making it a key aspect of the festival.

In conclusion, the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2025) continues to attract participants and visitors alike, showcasing the rich heritage of falconry in Qatar. The event serves as a platform to instill falconry in the hearts of younger generations and maintain this traditional practice. With strong support from various organizations and a record turnout from the community, the festival plays a crucial role in preserving the falconry legacy and promoting cultural awareness. As the event progresses, it is expected to draw even more interest from both local and international audiences, further solidifying its status as a significant cultural event in Qatar.
