Speaker meets delegation from the British Parliament

The Speaker of the Shura Council, H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, recently met with a delegation from the British Parliament led by Member of Parliament and chair of the Qatar all-party parliamentary group, H E Alun Cairns. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss various issues related to the bilateral relations between Qatar and Britain, particularly in terms of parliamentary cooperation and how to strengthen these ties. Additionally, the meeting addressed the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the assistance provided by Qatar in disaster and war zones such as Afghanistan and Sudan, and Qatari mediation efforts in conflicts such as the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, H E Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Member of the Shura Council and Chairman of the Qatari-European Friendship Group, H E Mohammed bin Fahad Al Musallam, and Member of the Shura Council and Chairman of the Internal and External Affairs Committee at the Council, H E Yousef bin Ali Al Khater. This demonstrates the importance and seriousness of the discussions that took place between the two delegations. The countries aim to further strengthen their ties and work together on various issues of mutual interest.

One of the key topics of discussion was the humanitarian situation in Gaza, where Qatar has been actively involved in providing aid and support. This reflects Qatar’s commitment to helping those in need and supporting countries facing crises. The meeting also highlighted the assistance provided by Qatar in disaster and war zones such as Afghanistan and Sudan, showcasing the country’s humanitarian efforts on a global scale.

Moreover, the discussion touched on Qatari mediation efforts in various conflicts, including the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. Qatar has been active in diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts and promote peace, demonstrating its commitment to international stability and security. The delegation from the British Parliament expressed their appreciation for Qatar’s mediation endeavors and highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two countries in addressing global challenges.
