The Strategic Food Security Facilities (SFSF) at Hamad Port in Doha, Qatar, are nearing completion and will soon be operational. These facilities have been designed to store rice, sugar, and edible oil to support three million individuals for up to two years. Eng. Nabil Al Khalidi, Executive Director of the Hamad Port Project, mentioned that final inspections are underway, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is working towards awarding a tender for operating the facilities. The SFSF project is expected to be ready for use by all concerned parties within a few months.
In 2017, the Ministry of Transport was tasked with overseeing the construction of the Strategic Food Security Facilities in Qatar. After extensive studies and consultations with relevant partners, an agreement was reached to establish storage facilities for rice, edible oils, and sugar with various capacities. These facilities are designed to operate efficiently within a two-year timeframe and cater to a target population of three million individuals.
