HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, has been recognized as the most prominent Arab woman for 2023 and awarded the Arab leader’s medal by the Arab Development Council for Women and Business. This prestigious accolade celebrates her diplomatic efforts, humanitarian work, and contributions across various developmental fields. The award was accepted on her behalf by the State of Qatar’s Ambassador to Lebanon, HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, during a reception at the Qatari embassy in Beirut.

At the reception, President of the Arab Development Council for Women and Business, Dr. Iman Ghossein, presented the award to HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, expressing her admiration and gratitude towards HE Sheikha Al Mayassa. Dr. Ghossein commended her as a role model for Arab women, highlighting her significant impact in promoting women’s advancement both regionally and globally. She pointed out Sheikha Al Mayassa’s leadership in supporting various cultural and educational initiatives, as well as her dedication to preserving Qatar’s cultural heritage and the historical legacy of the Arab world.

Due to the circumstances in the region, particularly the war in Gaza, the celebration originally planned for late 2023 was postponed. Dr. Ghossein expressed that in respect for the martyrs of Gaza, the celebration was cancelled, and the award presentation was instead held at the Qatari embassy in Beirut. She emphasized the importance of recognizing the efforts of women leaders like HE Sheikha Al Mayassa, who play a pivotal role in shaping the cultural landscape and promoting the rich heritage of their countries.

HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani shared his gratitude for receiving the award on behalf of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa and underscored the significance of recognizing Qatar’s women leaders’ contributions to development and creativity. He highlighted the esteemed position of women in Qatar and their essential role in driving progress and innovation in various fields.
