Qatar Tourism has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing five million visitors in 2024, marking a 25% growth in international arrivals compared to the previous year. This achievement solidifies Qatar’s position as a leading global tourism destination and highlights the effectiveness of the country’s tourism strategy. HE Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, expressed pride in this accomplishment and emphasized the country’s vision of becoming a premier tourism destination for families. Qatar aims to triple its visitor numbers and double tourism in-destination spend between 2022 and 2030, while also increasing the total tourism contribution to GDP to 10-12%.

The visitor demographics in Qatar show that 41% of visitors are from GCC countries, with the remaining 59% coming from international markets. Key source markets such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India, United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States of America have shown substantial growth, reflecting Qatar’s diverse appeal. The country has not only exceeded its visitor arrivals target but also surpassed its annual goal of room nights sold, recording nearly 10 million room nights sold in 2024. Additionally, Qatar’s hospitality sector has seen significant growth, with over 40,000 hotel keys available to accommodate visitors.

Throughout 2024, visitor numbers have shown consistent growth, with peaks at the start and end of the year. Major events such as the AFC Asian Cup in January and the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix have contributed to record-breaking visitor numbers. Qatar has welcomed visitors from around the world, offering unique experiences and service excellence that reflect the country’s rich heritage and hospitality. The nation’s diverse attractions, from cultural landmarks to family-friendly destinations, cater to the aspirations of all visitors, solidifying its position as a leading tourist destination.

In terms of transportation, 56% of visitors arrived in Qatar by air, 37% by land, and 7% by sea in 2024. The country’s accessibility and infrastructure have contributed to the growth in visitor numbers, with the beginning of a thriving 2024/2025 cruise season drawing in additional tourists. Qatar’s success in attracting visitors is a result of its commitment to delivering exceptional experiences and service excellence, ensuring that all visitors have a memorable and enjoyable stay. The country’s tourism industry continues to evolve and expand, with ambitious goals set for the future to further enhance its position as a top global tourism destination.
