Cyber security is an increasingly important issue in the digital age, with the use of social media and other online platforms leading to an increase in cyber threats. To address this issue, the Qatar Media Centre has partnered with the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) to offer a cyber security course aimed at enhancing cyber awareness and safety procedures for young people. The course, which is part of the Centre’s summer programme, aims to develop participants’ skills in preserving personal data and understanding cyber threats.

The course features Ishraq Al Hazbi, a cyber security trainer at the NCSA, who provides theoretical insights into cyber security and the importance of protecting systems, networks, and programmes against digital attacks. Al Hazbi highlights the various impacts of cyberattacks, including loss of credibility, financial losses, data theft, and digital identity theft. She emphasizes the importance of keeping personal and institutional data confidential and presents practical programmes on how to identify hacked accounts and unlock passwords.

Iman Al Kaabi, the Director of the Qatari Media Centre, explained that the cyber security course is specifically designed for individuals aged 18 to 22. She highlighted the importance of staying informed on social media usage, protecting accounts and privacy, and avoiding suspicious links that can lead to accounts being hacked. In addition to the cyber security course, the Centre will also offer a range of other programmes during the summer, including a three-day course on public speaking, a training workshop on professional phone photography, and a course on creating visual content for social media platforms.

The cyber security course is part of a broader effort to educate young people on the importance of cyber safety and provide them with the necessary skills to protect themselves online. With the increasing reliance on digital technologies, it is essential for individuals to be aware of potential cyber threats and take steps to safeguard their personal data. By offering courses like these, the Qatar Media Centre and the NCSA are helping to empower young people to navigate the digital landscape safely and securely.

Overall, the cyber security course organised by the Qatar Media Centre in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Agency is a valuable initiative that seeks to enhance cyber awareness and safety procedures among young people. With the increasing prevalence of cyber threats in today’s digital age, it is crucial for individuals to understand the importance of protecting their personal data and taking steps to safeguard themselves online. By providing practical training and theoretical insights, the course equips participants with the necessary skills to identify and prevent cyberattacks, ultimately helping to create a safer online environment for everyone.
