Doha, Qatar: In anticipation of the World Health Assembly 77, the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have come together to sign a Core Contribution Agreement. This agreement sees a donation of $4 million from the State of Qatar to WHO through QFFD, with the aim of supporting the implementation of the extended 13th WHO Programme of Work. The partnership highlights Qatar and QFFD’s commitment to improving global health outcomes and promoting sustainable development goals on a worldwide scale.

Mr. Sultan Ahmed Al-Aseeri, Acting Director General of QFFD, emphasized the importance of the partnership with WHO, stating that it reflects their dedication to achieving health equity for all. By supporting WHO, the goal is to empower communities, improve access to healthcare, and contribute to a healthier future for people around the world. This collaboration underscores the shared vision of both Qatar and QFFD in advancing global health and well-being.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, expressed gratitude towards long-standing partners like QFFD for their support. He mentioned that flexible funds are crucial for WHO to effectively respond to global health needs in a timely manner. The State of Qatar’s contribution allows WHO the flexibility needed to carry out its mission and mandate, ensuring that critical aid can be delivered where it is most needed.

The extended 13th WHO Programme of Work (GWP13) focuses on a holistic approach to health by addressing communicable and non-communicable diseases, strengthening health systems, and promoting health across the lifespan. This partnership will particularly focus on supporting countries in crisis and post-crisis contexts, aligning with Qatar and QFFD’s mission to provide essential assistance where it is needed most urgently. The collaboration reflects a commitment to improving health outcomes and building resilience in the face of global health challenges.

As the world grapples with intricate health issues, the partnership between QFFD and WHO serves as a beacon of hope and a testament to effective international cooperation in the field of global health. This agreement marks a significant step towards achieving the shared goal of a healthier and more resilient world. By working together, Qatar, QFFD, and WHO aim to make a tangible impact on improving health outcomes globally and advancing sustainable development goals.

In conclusion, the partnership between QFFD and WHO underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing global health challenges. The commitment of Qatar to supporting WHO’s work reflects a shared goal of promoting health equity and improving health outcomes for all. Through this partnership, both organizations aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people around the world, particularly in crisis-affected areas. The agreement between QFFD and WHO marks a significant step towards achieving a healthier and more resilient world, highlighting the positive impact of international cooperation in advancing global health.
