Qatar and Russia hold talks on cooperation | The Peninsula Qatar

Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, recently had important meetings with top Russian officials in Moscow. During his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, H E Sergei Lavrov, they discussed cooperation relations between their countries and ways to support and develop them. The discussions also included regional and international issues, such as the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and developments in the Gaza Strip and occupied Palestinian territories. Minister Lavrov expressed gratitude to Qatar for its efforts in reuniting families separated by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Russia, H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani.

In another meeting, Minister Al Khulaifi met with HE Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov. This meeting also focused on cooperation relations between the two countries, as well as regional and international issues, including the situation in the Gaza Strip and occupied Palestinian territories. Minister Al Khulaifi reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to working with partners to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and emphasized Qatar’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and their right to an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also stressed the importance of resolving disputes and crises peacefully to promote global security and stability.

Both meetings highlighted the ongoing efforts of Qatar to play a mediatory role in resolving conflicts and promoting peace in the region. Qatar’s involvement in reuniting families affected by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis demonstrates its commitment to humanitarian causes and its dedication to resolving conflicts through diplomatic means. The country’s firm stance on the Palestinian cause further solidifies its reputation as a supporter of justice and human rights. The discussions with Russian officials also underscored the importance of cooperation between Qatar and Russia in addressing regional and international issues for the benefit of global peace and security.

The presence of H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Russia, at both meetings highlights Qatar’s diplomatic efforts in strengthening ties with Russia. As Qatar continues to engage with key stakeholders in the region and beyond, its commitment to finding peaceful resolutions to conflicts remains a top priority. By working closely with Russia and other international partners, Qatar is actively contributing to efforts to address crises and promote stability in the Middle East and beyond.

Overall, Minister Al Khulaifi’s recent meetings in Moscow with top Russian officials reflect Qatar’s proactive approach to diplomacy and its commitment to fostering cooperation and peace in the region. Through its ongoing efforts in mediating conflicts and advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people, Qatar continues to play a significant role in shaping the future of the Middle East.
