The championship will then travel to various locations including Imola, Spa-Francorchamps, Le Mans, São Paulo, Austin, Fuji, and Bahrain, showcasing LIC as a premier motorsports hub on the international stage.

Lusail International Circuit hosted the inaugural Qatar Airways Qatar 1812 KM race in March 2024, which was a resounding success. The ten-hour endurance race, beginning in daylight and ending under LIC’s iconic floodlights, was won by Porsche Penske Motorsport. Manthey PureRxcing also emerged victorious in the first-ever LMGT3 class. The event featured thrilling competition across all classes and offered spectators a range of entertainment options including an air show, cultural activities, and a vibrant Fan Zone. The success of the 2024 race has paved the way for LIC to continue hosting WEC events in 2025 and beyond.

Amro Al Hamad, Executive Director of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation and CEO of LIC, expressed his excitement about hosting the 2025 WEC season opener. He emphasized LIC’s reputation as a premier destination for global motorsports events and highlighted the track record of successfully organizing international races like WEC, MotoGP, and Formula 1. LIC is dedicated to providing an exceptional race experience for teams, drivers, and fans, and looks forward to welcoming them back to enjoy the unique ambiance and top-notch facilities at the circuit.

As a venue capable of hosting diverse and high-caliber racing events, LIC continues to solidify its status as a premier motorsports destination. With the official announcement of LIC as the host for the 2025 WEC season opener, motorsports enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing thrilling competition and top-tier racing action. The championship’s schedule, spanning across four continents, promises to deliver an exciting and competitive season for both fans and participants.
