The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in Doha recently signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the National Service Academy and the Qatar Career Development Center. These partnerships aim to enhance local collaborations supporting human rights and promote justice and equality within Qatari society. The NHRC has been actively involved in providing human rights training to various organizations, including the National Service Academy, for the past two years. The training covers topics such as human rights principles, the Qatari constitution, legal frameworks, and mechanisms for human rights protection.

The MoU with the National Service Academy formalizes the ongoing cooperation between the two entities, with a focus on instilling values of citizenship and responsibility among students. The agreement includes provisions for information exchange, joint workshops, and NHRC experts delivering lectures on human rights fundamentals. Plans are also in place to develop a human rights curriculum to enhance students’ awareness of human rights issues at local, regional, and international levels. The academy is committed to spreading awareness and fostering a culture of human rights within its community, thanks to the efforts of the NHRC.

Similarly, the MoU with the Qatar Career Development Center aims to empower people with disabilities to join the workforce and leverage their capabilities. This partnership, stemming from recommendations made during the Second National Forum on Human Rights, includes joint initiatives and programs to support people with disabilities in entering the workforce and society. Collaboration will involve information exchange, policy support, awareness-raising activities, and efforts to increase public awareness of the role of people with disabilities in development. Consultation mechanisms, joint research projects, and interactive discussions are also part of the agreement.

HE Chairperson of the NHRC Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah emphasized the importance of these MoUs in strengthening partnerships that promote human rights principles and values within Qatari society. The NHRC has been actively involved in providing human rights training to various organizations, including the National Service Academy and the Qatar Career Development Center. The ongoing efforts of the NHRC to enhance local collaborations and raise awareness of human rights issues are crucial in advancing justice and equality in Qatar.

President of the National Service Academy Lieutenant General Hamad Ahmed Al Nuaimi expressed his commitment to spreading awareness and fostering a culture of human rights within the academy and broader community. The MoU with the academy formalizes the cooperation between the two entities, with the aim of instilling values of citizenship and responsibility among students. The agreement includes provisions for information exchange, joint workshops, and NHRC experts delivering lectures on human rights fundamentals in the academy’s training courses. Plans to develop a human rights curriculum in collaboration with NHRC and academy experts are also in place, to enhance students’ awareness and understanding of human rights issues.

Director of Qatar Career Development Center Abdullah Al Mansoori highlighted the importance of empowering people with disabilities to join the workforce and society, as outlined in the MoU with the center. This partnership focuses on protecting the rights of people with disabilities, promoting their integration into the workforce, and increasing public awareness of their role in development. The agreement includes cooperation on information exchange, policy support, awareness-raising activities, and efforts to increase public awareness of the capabilities and potential of people with disabilities. Consultation mechanisms, joint research projects, and interactive discussions will further enhance collaboration between the NHRC and the Qatar Career Development Center.
