Doha: The Ministry of Municipality debunks circulating news about desert locust outbreak.
The Ministry clarified that this false news is attributed to a widely circulated video clip showing the spread of desert locusts. The Department of Agricultural Affairs coordinated with the Desert Locust Control Authority in the Central Region – FAO, to find out the reality of the situation.
It later found out that the circulating video clip is old and dates back to 2019. Authorities also further affirmed that the situation is stable in the region.
“It is worth nothing that the Agricultural Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality sends technical teams to monitor and survey desert locusts in all regions of the country on regular basis,” the Ministry stated.
