The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Qatar has introduced a new service for citizens who are outside the country and face issues such as expired, lost, or damaged passports or IDs. The temporary travel permit issuance service is now available through the Metrash2 application, making it easier for citizens to return to Qatar without the hassle of visiting embassies and consulates abroad. This initiative is part of the MoI’s continuous efforts to enhance electronic services and simplify procedures for citizens.

According to Brigadier Hamad Abdulwahab Al Mutawa, Director of the MoI’s Nationality and Travel Documents Department, the collaboration with the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has enabled the seamless implementation of this new service. The process of applying for online travel documents through the Metrash2 application is straightforward and can be done around the clock. The travel document is issued within minutes and sent via email, eliminating the need for citizens to physically visit diplomatic missions abroad.

Brigadier Al Mutawa emphasized the importance of citizens ensuring the validity of their passports before traveling and taking precautions to prevent loss, theft, or damage. In case citizens encounter any difficulties accessing the Metrash2 application, they can reach out to the diplomatic missions of Qatar abroad for assistance. Special cases, such as births outside the country, will also be addressed to ensure that the necessary documentation is verified for processing.

In a bid to streamline the process and avoid unnecessary delays for citizens, the MoI has introduced the temporary travel permit issuance service to provide a quick and efficient solution for those facing passport or ID-related issues while being outside Qatar. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance public services and facilitate the smooth functioning of administrative procedures for citizens.

By making the application process for temporary travel permits through the Metrash2 application accessible 24/7, the MoI aims to offer greater convenience to citizens and their families. The ability to receive the travel document quickly via email also saves time and eliminates the need for citizens to physically visit embassies and consulates. This innovative approach to issuing temporary travel permits demonstrates the government’s dedication to leveraging modern technology to meet the needs of citizens effectively.

Overall, the launch of the temporary travel permit issuance service through the Metrash2 application is a significant step towards enhancing the overall travel experience for citizens. By providing a simple and efficient solution for passport and ID-related issues, the MoI is enabling citizens to return to Qatar with ease. This service exemplifies the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve public services and ensure the well-being of its citizens both within the country and abroad.
