The Department of Islamic Research and Studies at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is gearing up to launch the third season of the cultural project ‘Ummah Symposia Series: collective duties (Fard Kifayah) … path to reform.’ This upcoming season, set to kick off in October, will feature four seminars focusing on the root causes of societal imbalances and exploring the potential for reform through the concept of “collective duties.” These seminars will delve into topics such as cognitive, social, economic, and advocacy reforms.

Director of the Department of Research and Islamic Studies H E Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani emphasized the importance of the ‘Ummah Symposia Series’ as a platform for intellectual and scientific discourse. The quarterly symposium aims to address pressing issues facing society and the nation by bringing together a diverse group of thought leaders, scholars, and experts. By leveraging the concept of collective duties, the series seeks to promote dialogue and propose solutions for societal challenges.

The previous season of the ‘Ummah Symposia Series’ focused on the theme ‘our values … the pillar of civilization and the path to advancement.’ This theme underscored the significance of authentic Islamic values in shaping the cultural landscape of the Muslim community. The Department of Research and Islamic Studies recognized the enduring importance of these values in fostering societal progress and emphasized the need for their dissemination within the Muslim community.

As the second cultural season wraps up, the Department of Islamic Research and Studies is gearing up to host a symposium titled ‘confronting contemporary atheism.’ This symposium, scheduled for July 2, will delve into the phenomenon of atheism in Western society and its impact on the Muslim community. By examining atheism as a tool in the modern war on Islam, the symposium aims to explore strategies for addressing, preventing, and mitigating its effects. The event will feature a panel of esteemed researchers, academics, and religious leaders.

The ‘Ummah Symposia Series’ serves as a vital platform for intellectual exchange and dialogue on pressing societal issues. By engaging with diverse perspectives and promoting the concept of collective duties, the series aims to foster critical thinking and propose innovative solutions for societal challenges. The upcoming season promises to continue this tradition by tackling important topics related to reform and societal balance.

In conclusion, the Department of Islamic Research and Studies at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs plays a crucial role in fostering intellectual discourse and addressing contemporary challenges facing the Muslim community. Through initiatives such as the ‘Ummah Symposia Series,’ the department provides a platform for thought leaders and experts to engage in meaningful dialogue and propose solutions for societal advancement. As the upcoming season approaches, participants can look forward to engaging with a diverse range of topics related to reform and collective duties.
