JMJ Group Holding recently hosted a workshop at the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD) headquarters in Doha, Qatar. The workshop focused on sustainable urban development in Qatar and the implementation of GORD’s green building rating system known as the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS). JMJ Group Holding, which already has a portfolio of GSAS-certified developments in Lusail City, discussed strategies to achieve decarbonisation with energy-smart solutions.

The workshop was attended by senior representatives from both GORD and JMJ Group Holding, including GORD’s Founding Chairman Dr. Yousef Alhorr and Chairman of JMJ Group Holding Sheikh Jabor bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani. Through interactive workshops and collaboration, the two organizations aim to further their commitment to sustainable built environment in various projects across Qatar. By leveraging GSAS, they hope to accelerate the development of sustainable cities and communities in both Qatar and the wider region.

Sheikh Jabor bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the collaboration with GORD, highlighting GORD’s significant role in sustainability initiatives and carbon mitigation in the region. He emphasized JMJ Group Holding’s commitment to improving its environmental performance and implementing best practices in its projects. Founding Chairman of GORD, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, stressed the importance of sustainable building practices in the global fight against climate change and praised workshops like this for facilitating knowledge exchange and capacity building for industry leaders.

In addition to discussing GSAS, the workshop also addressed other sustainability aspects related to GORD’s operations. JMJ Group Holding’s representatives received a detailed presentation on GORD’s low-carbon solutions, including Synergia7n1, an ultra-efficient cooling system for open and enclosed spaces. The workshop also included insights from senior officials of GORD’s affiliate, Global Carbon Council (GCC), which is the first voluntary carbon market in the MENA region. The workshop aimed to provide businesses with strategies to achieve decarbonization through energy-smart solutions.

Overall, the workshop highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry leaders like JMJ Group Holding and organizations like GORD in advancing sustainability goals and establishing high standards for environmental practices in the region. By integrating sustainability principles with GSAS and other innovative solutions, these organizations are paving the way for a more sustainable future in Qatar and beyond. The workshop served as a platform for sharing knowledge and expertise, with the ultimate goal of creating a culture where innovation and environmental sustainability become the norm.
