The first-ever International ESG conference to deepen the understanding of implementing ESG standards across various sectors will take place in Doha on October 28-29, 2024. Organised by Governance International and KyoSafe, with key support from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), the event aims to facilitate discussions on regulations, reporting, global integration, and innovative sustainability practices. The conference was announced at a press conference in Doha on October 15, where key sponsors like Ashghal, UDST, Aamal, and TechnoQ came together to provide details of the event.
Conference Chairperson H E Sheikha Amal bint Thamer Al Thani highlighted the importance of the event in deepening the understanding of ESG standards across various sectors. She emphasized the significance of showcasing international experiences from the US, Europe, and the Gulf, as well as local practices from Qatari institutions, universities, and companies. She encouraged the participation of directors of public companies, heads of regulatory bodies in Qatar, experts, and anyone interested in the field to attend and benefit from the insights of international experts representing renowned institutions.
Rebecca Hickman, CEO of RoSPA in the UK, expressed her excitement about participating in the organization of the conference and bringing together speakers from leading sectors and universities to enhance best practices in ESG. Dr. Rachid Benlamri, Vice President of Academic Affairs at UDST, represented the university, which is the gold sponsor of the event. He conveyed the university President’s message of being pleased to play a key role in the development of ESG standards in Qatar. Sheikh Tamim bin Faisal Al Thani, Deputy CEO of Aamal, highlighted the company’s efforts in preserving the environment and developing the local community through various initiatives.
During the press conference, Ashghal’s contribution to promoting sustainability and recycling was highlighted by Dr. Abdulrazzaq Shaheen Al Kuwari, Head of the Laboratories Department.
