Ganga Cauvery to captivate Doha music fans on July 20

Music enthusiasts in Doha are set to be treated to a mesmerizing fusion of Hindustani and Carnatic musical traditions at the upcoming “Ganga Cauvery” concert on Saturday, July 20. The event, organized by Beats and Tunes Events, will feature the acclaimed President of India awardee, Purbayan Chatterjee, who is one of India’s leading Sitar maestros. Joining him on stage will be Ambi Subramaniam, also known as the new king of Indian classical violin. The concert will take place at the Al Thuraya Ball Room in Pullman Doha Hotel at 6pm.

Purbayan Chatterjee is a versatile musician who specializes in building bridges between different musical genres. He leads the band “Classicool” and has released several international albums that have received critical acclaim worldwide. Purbayan has performed at prestigious festivals in India and abroad, including the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, OzAsia Festival in Australia, and Traumzeit Festival in Germany. His unique style and innovative approach to music have earned him a dedicated fan following.

Ambi Subramaniam, on the other hand, is a prodigy who was trained by his father and guru, Dr. L. Subramaniam, from a very young age. He gave his first stage performance at the age of seven and has since garnered numerous accolades and awards, including the Ritz Icon of the Year Award and two Global Indian Music Awards. Ambi’s talent and passion for classical music have earned him recognition both in India and internationally, and he was recently named amongst GQ’s 25 Most Influential Young Indians in 2021.

The concert will also feature the talented Tanay Rege on Tabla and Phalgun Parupalli on Mirdangam, adding depth and richness to the musical experience. Audiences can expect to be enthralled by the virtuosity and creativity of these musicians as they come together to create a harmonious blend of Hindustani and Carnatic styles.
