On International Workers Day, the Workers Support and Insurance Fund (WSIF) in Doha, Qatar, will be celebrating the importance and value of workers and their significant role in building societies. Established under Law No. (17) of 2018, the Fund has been a pioneering initiative as part of Qatar’s labor market reforms, aimed at ensuring the physical and moral protection and support of Qatar-based workers. Kholoud Saif Al Kubaisi, the Executive Director of the WSIF, highlighted the Fund’s contribution to providing a financial safety net for workers in emergency situations, improving their living conditions, and enhancing workers’ rights in a fair and safe work environment.
Collaborating with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, the Fund will be hosting an entertainment and cultural event to celebrate May Day. This event aims to bring joy to laborers and will include various entertainment activities. Additionally, about 500 workers from different companies will have the opportunity to visit the museum as part of the celebrations. Along with financial support, the Fund organizes educational workshops, awareness sessions, and social events to provide moral support to workers, strengthen their sense of belonging, and enhance their appreciation in Qatari society.
Al Kubaisi expressed her gratitude to the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum for their participation in the event, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and positive initiatives that enhance the role of workers and contribute to the values of community and social responsibility. She hopes for more collaborations and initiatives that honor and appreciate the crucial role of workers in society.
