During the official holiday on November 6 and 7, 2024, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) in Doha, Qatar reported that a total of 10,988 patients, including citizens and residents, were received at the 22 operational health centers. The national unity in Qatar, reflected in the public referendum on draft constitutional amendments, was marked by this influx of patients seeking medical care. The majority of patients visited general medicine and family medicine clinics, totaling 7,937 patients, while 604 patients sought treatment at the general dental clinics.
Specialized clinic services, including ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, and premarital screening clinics, were also made available during the holiday period. Additionally, pharmacy, radiology, and laboratory services were offered to meet the various needs of all patients. The ophthalmology clinics received 80 patients at different locations, while the ENT clinics saw 69 patients and the dermatology clinics attended to 49 patients. Premarital screening clinics received 62 patients, ensuring comprehensive healthcare services were accessible to all in need.
In order to provide timely healthcare services, PHCC’s Community Call Center facilitated a total of 551 virtual medical consultations, which included both telephone and video calls. Patients who contacted the service line 16000 without prior appointments were able to receive medical advice and prescriptions from specialized physicians promptly. This type of consultation aimed to prioritize urgent cases and ensure that patients received the necessary care without delays.
PHCC emphasized its commitment to meeting patient needs without delays at all health centers on duty during the holiday period.
