The Doha Film Institute has announced jury registrations for the 2024 edition of the Ajyal Film Festival, scheduled to take place from November 16-23, 2024. The festival invites young people aged 8 to 25 from around the world to participate in the Ajyal Jury Experience. This unique opportunity allows participants to engage with acclaimed cinema and share their opinions on global issues. Each year, the festival brings together over 500 young participants from more than 50 countries.
Aspiring jurors can register for the cultural event, where they will have the chance to watch a diverse selection of films from across the globe, engage in discussions with peers, and interact with industry professionals through workshops. The Ajyal Jury Experience is divided into three age-specific groups, encouraging jurors to explore cinema as a tool for positive social change. The festival aims to foster cultural exchange, understanding, and dialogue, empowering jurors to influence the future of cinema for their generation.
Fatma Hassan Alremaihi, Chief Executive Officer of the Doha Film Institute, highlighted the importance of the Jury Experience in empowering young minds through storytelling. She emphasized the program’s role in sparking dialogue, inspiring creativity, and enabling youth to address global issues through filmmaking. With young people making up a significant portion of the global population, Alremaihi stressed the importance of supporting them in shaping a more inclusive and empathetic world.
Ajyal Jurors are divided into three competition sections based on age—Mohaq (8-12), Hilal (13-17), and Bader (18-25). Each group will evaluate a specially curated selection of feature and short films suitable for their age range. Participating in the Ajyal Jury program offers a creative and educational experience that fosters teamwork, critical thinking, and leadership skills among youth.
