The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in Doha, Qatar recently celebrated World Ozone Day on September 16 under the theme “advancing climate action.” The event included honoring students who participated in the “Ozone Shield of the Blue Planet” competition, organized by the MOECC in collaboration with the University of Doha for Science and Technology and the United Nations Environment Programme. This competition aimed to raise awareness among school students about their social responsibility in preserving the ozone layer by creating videos and publications that reflect their understanding of environmental solutions related to protecting the ozone layer.

Qatar is a member of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and its amendments.
