The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (Aman) in Doha, Qatar, recently concluded an Awareness Campaign in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation to educate the community on social protection and its connection to mental health. The campaign coincided with World Mental Health Day and aimed to raise awareness of mental health problems among women, children, and victims of family disintegration. Executive Director of Aman Sheikh Dr. Nasser bin Ahmed Al-Thani emphasized the importance of mental health for these groups, noting that psychological violence can have a negative impact on behavior, thinking, and overall health.
During the campaign, a pavilion was set up at the Women’s Wellness and Research Center (WWRC) to introduce the services provided by the Aman Center. The Executive Director highlighted the increase in the number of beneficiaries of the center’s services, with over 2,500 people from various groups in society taking part in the activities. Services provided by the center are free of charge and aim to raise awareness and provide social protection for women, children, and victims of family disintegration due to violence.
Dr. Hilal Al Rifai, WWRC acting CEO and Medical Director, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership between the WWRC and Aman Center. He stated that the WWRC will play a significant role in integrating Aman’s programs with the center’s training and awareness programs, as well as conducting joint research to uphold human rights protection in Qatar. Head of the Communication and Information Office at Aman Center, Hanan Al Ali, emphasized the importance of international days in promoting community and international partnerships, particularly in the health sector in Qatar.
Al Ali highlighted the collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation and the Primary Health Care Corporation in raising awareness and educating society about the dangers of psychological stress. The Aman Center aims to create a safe environment for women, children, and victims of family violence by hosting awareness events in collaboration with health centers and sharing educational messages on social media. This partnership is crucial in ensuring mental health awareness and protection for vulnerable groups within the community.
