The Minister of State for International Cooperation, H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, recently met with H E Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the UN Office for Project Services, Jorge Moreira da Silva, during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79) in New York. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the UN, and ways to support and develop them. Discussions also touched on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the situations in Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, along with other topics of mutual interest.

The meeting underscored the importance of continued collaboration between Qatar and the UN in addressing pressing global issues and supporting development efforts. Both parties emphasized the need for sustained efforts to enhance cooperation and ensure the effective implementation of joint projects and initiatives. The discussions also highlighted the ongoing challenges in the region, particularly in conflict-affected areas such as Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in achieving peace, stability, and development.

As part of the discussions, the Minister and the Under-Secretary-General exchanged insights on the current situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. They highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian assistance and support for the Palestinian people, as well as efforts to promote dialogue and reconciliation in the region. The meeting also addressed the developments in Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, emphasizing the need for concerted international efforts to address the root causes of conflicts and facilitate sustainable solutions for lasting peace and stability.
