Muscat Municipality showcased its commitment to transforming Muscat into a smart city at the COMEX exhibition, demonstrating its efforts towards digital transformation. The Municipality’s booth at COMEX highlights advancements in design, presentation, and service introduction each year. This year, Muscat Municipality presented innovative projects and electronic services to align with Oman Vision 2040.
One of Muscat Municipality’s key initiatives is the Electronic Services Portal, which allows individuals and sectors to complete transactions online without visiting municipal offices. Services include registration requests for consulting offices, obtaining maps, updating addresses, and applying for permissions. These services aim to create an accurate database for the Muscat Governorate.
The Unified Municipal System project focuses on smart digital solutions to improve municipal procedures and enhance beneficiary experiences. The Etamad platform accelerates drilling permits and improves the business environment by streamlining approval processes and integrating geographic information systems (GIS) technology for decision-making.
The Geospatial Portal uses spatial technologies to boost operational efficiency and aid decision-making in sectors such as lighting, investment, and pest control. Muscat Municipality’s integrated system of smart electronic services includes a road monitoring system and a smart lighting system to enhance sustainability, energy efficiency, and overall management effectiveness.
The Muscat Municipality Communications Center ensures prompt and effective service delivery through advanced technical tools, employee training programs, and performance measurement assessments. By participating in COMEX 2024, Muscat Municipality reaffirms its commitment to transforming Muscat into a smart and sustainable city, in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.
