The Ministry of Labour recently participated in the 27th meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Civil Service and Administrative Development Agencies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This event took place in Doha, as a prelude to the upcoming 20th meeting of the Committee of Civil Service Ministers scheduled for September 3, 2024. Sayyid Salim bin Muslim Al Busaidi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development, represented the Ministry at the meeting. The event was attended by Khalid bin Ali Al Sunaidi, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Development Affairs at the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council, as well as other Undersecretaries of Civil Service and Administrative Development Agencies from the GCC countries.

The meeting focused on various topics related to joint cooperation in civil service and administrative development. Discussions included the GCC strategy in the field of civil service and human resources development for the years 2021-2025. Furthermore, the participants talked about several joint initiatives between the GCC countries aimed at enhancing collaboration in the mentioned fields. Additionally, the meeting addressed the implementation mechanisms of the practical training and expert exchange project. Another key topic of discussion was the programme dedicated to honoring competencies in the civil service sectors of the GCC countries for the year 2025.

The event provided an opportunity for representatives from the GCC countries to exchange ideas and strategies for improving civil service and administrative development in the region. It allowed them to discuss challenges and opportunities facing the sector, as well as share best practices and success stories. By engaging in dialogue and collaboration, the participants were able to strengthen ties and work towards common goals in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of civil service operations across the GCC countries.

The participation of the Ministry of Labour in this meeting demonstrates Oman’s commitment to regional cooperation and development in the field of civil service and human resources. By actively engaging in discussions and initiatives within the GCC framework, Oman aims to contribute to the advancement of civil service practices in the region. Through collaboration with other member countries, Oman seeks to learn from their experiences and leverage collective knowledge and resources to enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and residents.
