The National Museum’s Board of Trustees convened for its 12th meeting in Muscat, under the leadership of Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, who serves as the Minister of Heritage and Tourism as well as the Chairman of the National Museum’s Board of Trustees. One of the main objectives of the meeting was to review and approve the Museum’s annual report for 2024, as well as to discuss the Museum’s upcoming annual plan for 2025. Additionally, the meeting focused on the development of work plans and programs that pertain to cultural diplomacy and international cooperation in the upcoming year. Among the topics of discussion was the collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in retrieving a selection of artefacts and archaeological items.

The approval of the Museum’s annual report for 2024 and the subsequent discussion of the 2025 annual plan highlight the commitment of the Board of Trustees to ensure the continued success and growth of the National Museum. By meticulously reviewing the Museum’s past achievements and looking forward to the future through the annual plan, the Board of Trustees is demonstrating its dedication to preserving and promoting Oman’s rich cultural heritage. Additionally, the focus on cultural diplomacy and international cooperation underscores the Museum’s commitment to fostering relationships with other institutions and countries to enrich the cultural landscape of Oman and amplify its global presence.

One of the key areas of focus during the meeting was the retrieval of artefacts and archaeological items, a crucial aspect of the Museum’s mission to safeguard Oman’s historical treasures. By collaborating with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in this endeavor, the Museum is furthering its efforts to protect and preserve Oman’s heritage for future generations. The retrieval of these items not only enhances the Museum’s collection but also contributes to the broader efforts to promote Oman’s cultural heritage on a national and international level.

The meeting of the Board of Trustees also serves as a platform for strategic discussions and decision-making processes that will shape the future direction of the National Museum. By examining work plans and programs related to cultural diplomacy and international cooperation, the Board of Trustees is laying the groundwork for a successful year ahead. These initiatives will not only enhance the Museum’s offerings but also position it as a leading cultural institution in the region.

As the Museum continues to expand its reach and influence, the work of the Board of Trustees plays a vital role in guiding its growth and development. The commitment of the Board of Trustees to meticulous planning and oversight ensures that the Museum remains at the forefront of cultural preservation and promotion in Oman. By collaborating with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and other stakeholders, the Museum is able to leverage its resources and expertise to achieve its overarching mission of celebrating Oman’s rich cultural legacy.

Overall, the 12th meeting of the National Museum’s Board of Trustees in Muscat represents a strategic milestone in the Museum’s ongoing efforts to preserve and promote Oman’s cultural heritage. Through careful planning, collaboration, and a dedication to excellence, the Board of Trustees is paving the way for a successful future for the National Museum.
