Sur Industrial City, under the supervision of the Public Authority for Industrial Estate (Madayn), has made significant progress in attracting new projects during the first half of the year. These projects span across various sectors including industrial, commercial, service, residential, and academic. The total number of projects localized in Sur Industrial City has now reached 113 with a cumulative investment volume of OMR2.3 billion. Currently, there are 2,737 employees working in these projects with an Omanisation rate of 55%. The total area of Sur Industrial City covers a massive 36 million square metres.
According to Nasser bin Hamoud Al Mabsali, Director General of Sur Industrial City, Madayn is actively working on the implementation of several key projects within the industrial city. One of the major projects includes the construction of a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 500 cubic meters per day. The completion of this project has reached 82% and it is expected to be operational by the beginning of the next year. Another significant project is the Omifco Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, for which the design phase has been completed and preparations are underway to float the tender documents for contracting companies.
In addition to these projects, Madayn is also focusing on the rehabilitation of the security fence surrounding Sur Industrial City. The project is currently at 98% completion and is expected to be finished by the end of the current year. Furthermore, there are plans to establish additional projects in Sur Industrial City, such as the consultancy services for the development of infrastructure for ships to anchor at the coast of the industrial city. The award for the consultancy services for this project is anticipated to be announced at the beginning of the next year.
