Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has made significant progress in the QS World University Ranking, advancing 92 places to rank 362. This achievement marks the university’s best ranking to date, with improvements seen in various indicators such as Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Employment Outcomes, and the Sustainability ranking. SQU’s investment in academic collaborations and research partnerships with scholars worldwide has contributed to its rise in academic reputation, while its strong ties with the employment sector have boosted its employer reputation and employment outcomes indicators. Additionally, the university’s focus on sustainable development goals has earned it a global rank of 286 in the QS Sustainability Ranking.
HH Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of SQU, applauded the university’s progress and highlighted its alignment with Oman Vision 2040. The university aims to be among the top 500 universities globally by 2030, and this recent achievement sets it on the path towards meeting its strategic goals. The QS Ranking institution evaluated data from over 5,600 international universities across 106 countries to compile the 2025 global rankings. Among the 1,503 universities included in this year’s rankings, SQU’s impressive progress stands out, solidifying its reputation as a top-tier educational institution. With 23 new universities added this year, SQU’s exceptional performance highlights its commitment to academic excellence, research collaboration, and sustainable development initiatives. This ranking serves as a stepping stone for SQU to achieve further success in the future and reinforces its position as a key player in the global higher education landscape.
