The Omani Society of Emergency Medicine (OSEM) recently organized a three-day international conference in Salalah, focusing on the latest scientific and practical developments in handling emergency cases. More than 40 specialists from Oman and abroad participated in the conference, which was hosted by the Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar Governorate. The conference discussed research on preparing for crises and disasters, highlighting the role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in improving the performance of emergency departments. Additionally, the conference featured a health exhibition showcasing 20 research papers presented by emergency medicine specialists from various countries.
In addition to the health exhibition, the conference also included a roadshow featuring the latest technologies and devices used in emergency departments. The programme consisted of six intensive training workshops covering various aspects of emergency medicine, including clinical toxicology, paediatric and adult emergencies, critical eye-care cases, ultrasound device usage, and electrocardiogram analysis in critical situations. These workshops provided valuable hands-on training for conference attendees to enhance their emergency medicine skills and knowledge.
The opening ceremony of the conference was held under the patronage of Dr. Said Harib Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs. During the ceremony, Dr. Lamki applauded the efforts of the participants and supporters of the conference, emphasizing the importance of continuous education and training in the field of emergency medicine.
