Muscat: Currently, parts of the governorates of Muscat, South Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah seem to be affected by scattered rainfall of varying intensity, said Oman Meteorology on Friday, November 17, 2023.
In the coming hours, the weather conditions are expected to continue over the northern governorates, along with chances of scattered rain in parts of Al Wusta and Dhofar Governorates.
Previously, Oman metrology announced that due to the expected heavy thundershowers today, Friday 17 November, 2023 over the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah , Al Dakhylia, Al Hajar Mountains and Muscat governorate.
The Civil Aviation Authority advises all to take precautions during thundershowers rain, and not to cross Wadis (Flash Flood) and avoid low lying areas and not to sail during alert period.
Alerts:
1. Heavy rainfall expected which may range between 20 – 80 mm might cause flash floods (Wadis).
2. Strong downdrafts with speed pf15 to 30 kt (28-56 km/h).
3. Poor horizontal visibility due to dust rising during thundershowers
