The Royal Opera House Muscat is thrilled to introduce Season 2024/2025, promising a season filled with world-class performances for audiences to enjoy. With over 50 performances in the main programming, the season will feature a diverse range of shows including operas, classical concerts, ballet, jazz, and world music concerts. Leading Arab and Western artists will take the stage from October 2024 to May 2025, offering a mix of classic and contemporary productions to cater to all audiences.
The season kicks off with Giuseppe Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera, presented by The National Centre for Performing Arts Beijing, followed by Gaetano Donizetti’s La Fille du Regiment, Opera Monte Carlo’s production. Other highlights include Simon Boccanegra performed by the Mariinsky Orchestra and Chorus, Robin Hood, and the return of La Traviata, staged by Marta Domingo. These operas promise to captivate audiences with stellar performances and stunning productions that showcase the talent of world-class artists.
Arab music will take center stage throughout the season, featuring concerts that celebrate the rich heritage and tradition of Arab music. From the Omani Women’s Day concert to solo performances by Majida El Roumi, Ahlam, and Ragheb Alama, audiences will be treated to a lineup of iconic Arab music stars. Special events paying homage to Mohamed Abdul Wahab and traditional Yemeni music will also be featured, providing a unique cultural experience for attendees.
Classical concerts will showcase the talent of musicians from around the world, including A Musical Night from China, Erwin Schrott’s Romantic Evening of Music, and the Opera Masterpieces performed by Mariinsky Opera. The season will also include the annual Pipe Organ Concert and end with the Gala Symphony Concert conducted by Plácido Domingo. Special performances such as The Piano Duel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and others will offer a diverse range of classical music experiences.
Ballet and dance performances will come to life on the stage with productions such as One Thousand and One Nights by the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Ballet and Memories of Alhambra by the Compañia Flamenca Antonio Andrade. These stunning shows will fuse Arabic music and Flamenco to create a unique and mesmerizing experience for audiences. Additionally, jazz enthusiasts can look forward to a concert by jazz singer and pianist Anthony Strong, performing with the Latvian Radio Big Band.
The season will also feature a variety of family-friendly shows, including Beauty and the Beast on Ice, Sword of Wisdom Acrobatic Show by U-Theatre ensemble, and the Folk Music Festival celebrating heritage and cultural traditions.
