RAO celebrates 100 years since the establishment of Sultan of Oman Artillery

The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) celebrated the centenary of the establishment of the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery in a ceremony held under the patronage of HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs. The event included a military infantry parade, musical performances by the RAO band, a visual presentation on the history and modernization plans of the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery, and a field and air show showcasing historical and modern weapons and equipment. The closing tableau symbolizing the centenary was also displayed, followed by participants chanting, “Long live His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander”.

HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik and attendees toured a permanent exhibition displaying the journey of the Sultan of Oman’s artillery since its inception, highlighting its development and achievements. The ceremony was attended by senior military and government officials, as well as personnel of the RAO Sultan of Oman’s Artillery. The event aimed to honor the history and contributions of the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery, showcasing its advancement in military preparations and commitment to national duties.

The establishment of the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery in 1924 marked a significant milestone in Oman’s military history. Over the past century, the artillery has undergone extensive development and modernization, with advanced defense systems and highly trained personnel capable of fulfilling national tasks and duties. The ceremony celebrated the progress and achievements of the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery, reflecting its commitment to keeping pace with modern technologies in the military sector.

The event included a field and air show featuring a display of historical and modern weapons and equipment, such as cannons, vehicles, and artillery pieces. This demonstration highlighted the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery’s role in national defense and its readiness to respond to modern security challenges. The exhibition showcased the artillery’s evolution over the years, emphasizing its historical significance and contributions to Oman’s defense and security.

The ceremony concluded with a closing tableau symbolizing the centenary of the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery, accompanied by chants honoring His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander. The presence of HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik and other dignitaries underscored the importance of the event and the recognition of the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery’s dedication to safeguarding the nation. The exhibition provided a comprehensive overview of the artillery’s journey, underscoring its role in Oman’s defense and security landscape.
