The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) in Muscat has recently launched the National CEO Programme (NCP) with the aim of cultivating national leaders within the private sector. This initiative is in line with Oman Vision 2040 and seeks to equip executive leaders with the necessary skills to contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and sustainability. The programme takes 35 participants on an eight-month journey that includes learning modules, experiential learning, international site visits, and mentoring sessions. By immersing participants in unfamiliar environments that simulate the role of a CEO, the NCP fosters strong teams and prepares them to compete and adapt to the future.
Abdulaziz Said Al-Risi, Assistant to the President for Studies and Development, highlighted that the NCP aims to develop Omani CEOs to a world-class standard by focusing on achieving strategic objectives at the individual, institutional, and national levels. The programme promotes innovative and creative leadership within the private sector to enhance competitiveness and sustainability. Participants will be equipped with tools to address modern leadership challenges such as change management, strategic leadership, innovation, digital transformation, team building, and managing strategic stakeholders. The programme’s modules cover building a leadership community, leadership development, essential skills for modern leadership, field visits to examine business sector challenges, and change leadership.
The NCP Programme is part of the Royal Academy of Management’s Centre for Leadership Development, which offers a range of leadership programmes for senior officials in both the public and private sectors. The Centre also provides initiatives for Omani youth, women, and entrepreneurs, focusing on preparing future leaders for the public sector and strengthening the leadership community to tackle current and future challenges. Through collaboration with national stakeholders and international partners, the Centre aims to create a modern, resilient public sector ecosystem capable of driving success and sustainability in Oman.
In the first module of the NCP Programme, participants will focus on building a leadership community to enhance learning and reflection on contemporary leadership concepts. The second module, which takes place in the United Kingdom, will emphasize leadership development and introduce new perspectives on methodologies. Participants will explore leveraging their strengths to develop strategies, lead teams, and drive transformation. The third module, “Leading a 21st Century Organisation,” will cover essential skills for modern leadership, including financial management, digital marketing, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven decision-making. The fourth module will involve field visits to examine business sector challenges and learn from successful individuals and institutions within Oman’s private sector. The programme will conclude with the “Leadership Community” event, showcasing participants’ learning experiences and reinforcing their leadership connections.
Overall, the National CEO Programme launched by the Royal Academy of Management in Muscat is a significant initiative aimed at cultivating national leaders within the private sector and contributing to the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. Through a comprehensive eight-month learning journey, participants will develop essential skills to navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing international landscape, ultimately enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of Oman’s private sector.
