Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) was recently recognized for its exceptional contributions to corporate social responsibility at the Second GCC International Corporate Social Responsibility Conference and Awards 2024 held in Bahrain. The event, organized by the Bahrain CSR Society, saw PDO receiving five prestigious awards, including first place in Excellence in International CSR and Excellence in Community Social Service categories. Additionally, the company secured second place in Excellence in Environmental Sustainable Development and Excellence in Community Social Development. Engineer Abdul-Amir bin Abdul-Hussein Al Ajmi, PDO’s External Affairs and Value Creation Director, was also honored with the Excellence in CSR-Community Builder Award.

Eng. Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Mohsin Al Ghareebi, External Affairs, Communication, and Social Investment Manager at PDO, expressed pride in the recognition received and emphasized the company’s commitment to socially and environmentally responsible practices. He highlighted PDO’s alignment with the goals of sustainable development and Oman Vision 2040, reinforcing the company’s dedication to supporting initiatives that contribute to a better future for generations to come.

PDO’s commitment to social responsibility goes beyond awards, as evidenced by its pledge to 95 new projects within its Social Investment Programme over the past year, with a total value of around US$13 million. These projects cover a wide range of themes, including health, safety, environment, education, youth and women empowerment, and community welfare. Over the last decade, PDO has implemented CSR projects totaling approximately US$130 million, reflecting the company’s enduring dedication to making a positive impact on society.

The company’s efforts towards corporate social responsibility are underpinned by a holistic approach that emphasizes sustainable practices and community engagement. By actively investing in projects that address critical social and environmental issues, PDO is not only fulfilling its obligations as a responsible corporate citizen but also contributing to the broader development goals of the country. This commitment to excellence in CSR has earned the company a reputation for leadership in the field and has solidified its position as a role model for other organizations.

PDO’s recognition at the GCC International Corporate Social Responsibility Conference and Awards serves as a testament to its unwavering commitment to ethical business practices and sustainable development. By being awarded in multiple categories, including community building, environmental sustainability, and international CSR, the company has demonstrated its ability to drive positive change and create lasting impact in the communities where it operates. These accolades underscore PDO’s position as a key player in the region’s CSR landscape and reinforce its role as a driving force for social and economic progress.

In conclusion, PDO’s success at the Second GCC International Corporate Social Responsibility Conference and Awards is a testament to its tireless efforts in promoting sustainable development and community empowerment. By receiving multiple awards and recognition for its outstanding CSR initiatives, the company has showcased its commitment to making a meaningful difference in society. As PDO continues to invest in projects that benefit the environment, education, and community welfare, it will undoubtedly set new standards of excellence for corporate social responsibility in the region.
