The Victory Day of Bangladesh was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Muscat, Oman with the organization of the ‘Gulf Exchange Gold Cup Football Tournament 2024-2025’ by the Bangladesh Social Club Oman. This year saw sixteen teams from various regions of Oman participating in the tournament, making it the biggest sports event of the Bangladeshi community in the country. The tournament was inaugurated on 2 November by Councillor Mohammad Rafiul Islam of the Bangladesh Embassy in Muscat, with the CEO of Gulf Overseas Exchange, Iftakher Chowdhury, as the Guest of Honour.
The final of the tournament had the First Secretary of the Bangladesh Embassy, Asadul Hoque, as the Chief Guest, along with the Operation Manager of Main Sponsor Gulf Overseas Exchange, Masud Rana, as a special guest. The event was presided over by Club Chairman Sirajul Haque CIP and anchored by Club Acting General Secretary Abdur Rahim. Other prominent members of the club present at the event included Club Vice President Rezaul Karim CIP, Treasurer Maulana Abdul Salam, and Publicity Secretary Hafez Mohammad Nazim Uddin Chowdhury, among others. The sports secretary, Sirajul Hoque CIP, was responsible for the smooth running of the event.
The tournament attracted a large audience, including Bangladesh football fans and family members, who came to support their favorite teams. The final match, held on 20 December 2024 at the Muscat Club Stadium, saw Hamriya Football Ekados emerge as the winners by defeating Hajrat Shahjalal FC by one goal in extra time. The Club Chairman expressed his gratitude to all the participants, officials, sponsors, and team members for their support and contributions to the successful completion of the tournament.
