Omani Writers Society hosts conference on incorporating Heritage into Omani Literature

The Omani Society for Writers and Literati recently hosted an international conference titled “Utilizing Heritage in Omani Literature”. The event, held in collaboration with the Office of the Governor of North Al Sharqiyah and Al Sharqiyah University, brought together scholars and experts to discuss the importance of heritage in shaping Omani literature. One of the key recommendations to come out of the conference was the establishment of a “Studies and Research Centre for Human Sciences” which would focus on studying both tangible and intangible heritage. Participants also suggested adding “folk literature” to the curricula of Arabic language students at higher education institutions. Additionally, there was a proposal for an “Award for the Best Academic Research Specialized in Omani Heritage”.
