The Sultanate of Oman recently issued a strong condemnation in response to an airstrike launched by Israel on Iranian territory, stating that the attack was a “flagrant violation” of Iran’s sovereignty and a clear breach of international law. Oman’s Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the escalation, warning that such actions fuel the cycle of violence and undermine ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and resolve conflicts through diplomatic means. The ministry also highlighted the risk of further instability and unrest in the region if such practices continue unabated.

In a renewed call to the international community, Oman urged swift and effective action to halt what it termed “blatant violations” by Israel, emphasising the importance of safeguarding peace and security across the region. The statement also underscored the need to address the root causes of regional crises, particularly calling for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories. Oman reiterated its support for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, as outlined by United Nations and Security Council resolutions, and stressed the importance of Palestinian self-determination within an independent state, in alignment with the Arab Peace Initiative.

The condemnation by Oman comes amidst heightened tensions in the Middle East, with Israel’s airstrike on Iranian territory adding to the volatile situation in the region. Oman’s strong stance against the attack underscores its commitment to upholding international norms and principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. By calling for swift action by the international community to address these violations, Oman seeks to prevent further destabilization and violence in the region.

Oman’s condemnation of Israel’s actions also reflects its longstanding support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to a just and lasting resolution to the conflict. By reiterating its support for a two-state solution and Palestinian self-determination, Oman aligns itself with the broader international consensus on the need for a peaceful and negotiated settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Sultanate’s call for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories further underscores its commitment to promoting peace and security in the region.

In raising its voice against the Israeli airstrike, Oman joins other countries in the region and around the world in condemning actions that threaten peace and stability. The Sultanate’s condemnation sends a strong message to the international community about the urgent need to address violations of international law and uphold the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. By calling for a halt to Israel’s actions and a focus on resolving the root causes of regional conflicts, Oman demonstrates its commitment to promoting peace and security in the Middle East.

In sum, Oman’s condemnation of the Israeli airstrike on Iranian territory reflects its firm stance on upholding international norms and principles, as well as its commitment to the Palestinian cause and a just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. By urging swift action by the international community to address violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity, Oman seeks to prevent further destabilization and violence in the region. As tensions continue to escalate in the Middle East, Oman’s call for peace and security reaffirms its role as a responsible member of the international community and a proponent of diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts.
