The 24th edition of the Arab Radio and Television Festival, held in Tunisia, featured a remarkable presence by the Sultanate of Oman. Oman was represented by the Ministry of Information, Oman Radio, Oman TV, and the private radio FM “Al Wisal”. The country won 10 different awards across various intellectual, value-based, and cultural categories at the festival, which saw participation from 28 Arab institutions with a total of 143 entries. Oman Radio secured 5 top positions in the competitions, showcasing the continuous progress and success of Oman TV in producing high-quality content.
Yousuf Humaid Al-Yousufi, the Director General of Radio of the Sultanate of Oman, highlighted that Oman Radio has a history of winning awards at GCC and Arab competitions annually, reflecting the ongoing development and advancement in the quality of media products. The Ministry of Information’s comprehensive plans focus on fostering creativity, innovation, and skills enhancement among media professionals through various training programs. At the festival, Oman Radio’s epic drama “Battle of Salloot” clinched a silver prize, while the radio program “Our Health” was awarded second prize in the “Mental Health” category. Oman Radio also secured second place in the educational programs competition, addressing the issue of school dropouts.
Oman’s success continued with two additional awards in the categories of “Ancient Architecture 2024” for the radio contest and “Radio and TV Exchange Materials” for the year 2023. Oman TV also made a notable impact by winning four awards for the documentary “Breathtaking” produced by the Ministry of Information. The network received accolades for the Joint Arab-European Television Production program “Markets and People” and the documentary “Friday Gate at Nizwa Market.” Furthermore, Oman secured second place for the TV program “Sharing” and another award for general documentaries and programs focusing on the vibrant activities of the Nizwa Market during Fridays.
Al-Wisal Radio, a private radio station, also achieved recognition at the festival with two awards. The station received second place for its variety program “Primo” and was honored for its program “Healthy Life.” The outstanding performance by Oman at the Arab Radio and Television Festival underscores the country’s commitment to producing high-quality media content that resonates with audiences across various genres. The awards won across different categories demonstrate the depth of talent and creativity within Oman’s media industry, setting the stage for further achievements and contributions on the regional and international stage.
